Istanbul’s fishermen are selling their wares from a modern shelter. Besiktas is a trendy and diverse neighborhood which is in the process of urban renewal. The old fish market in particular was in dire need of attention.
GAD has designed a concrete shell to house the market. They have managed to maintain the fish market’s history and village-friendly atmosphere and yet added a contemporary feel.
