_project Name: Reem Island 2
_location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
_brief: The client wished to create a self-contained community of mixed use, commercial, residential and retail. Retaining one plot on the site with a view to selling the remaining to other developers they wanted to set a standard a showcase their vision for the entire site.
_considerations: The retained site is to contain residential units which must be functional and practical. The client wanted a minimalist contemporary feel.
_response: We created five blocks which looked to have been one before being broken away into separate forms, creating cool areas between each other away from the mid-day sun. Every residential unit would have a view to cool water - the swimming pools.
